WELCOME

Susie is a writer, lecturer and photographer with a lifetime’s gardening experience

Susie has written eight gardening books and has her work regularly featured in the press. For twenty-three years she ran Chesters Walled Garden in Northumberland, leaving to create a garden for her Northumbrian cottage, which she uses as the basis for many of her articles including the Guardian’s Country Diary. Set in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is a place in tune with the surrounding landscape, and Susie has evolved a distinctive, natural style of planting to suit. She is a member of the Garden Media Guild, the Outdoor Writers and Photographers Guild and part of the Northumberland county team of the National Gardens Scheme.

Bee heaven. I reckon that with 40 plants & about 30 bumblebees on each plant, our sedum walk must be feeding some 1200 bees. #GardensHour @Buzz_dont_tweet @B_Strawbridge @russell_vivian
